Tales from the Pressroom bio picture
  • Welcome to our Pressroom!

"Souls dwell in printers' type." --Joseph Ames

There is so much to be said about the process of letterpress. Starting with the care given while listening and learning from the client, to designing a piece that speaks of their vision, to the crafted precision that is taken in careful preparation for print and on to the motion and time poured over these time tested presses to ensure that the message first conceived is the message that is truly received. We hope you enjoy the process with us!

When we were asked to sponsor NAPCP 2013 retreat last year, we were quite honored. This excellent organization is committed to the celebrating the artistry and integrity of professional child photography. They provide resources and inspiration, challenges and encouragement to all who are professionals in this genre of photography. The group all met last year in Charleston, South Carolina for 4 days to educate and inspire during their Retreat. Photographers from all over came together to listen and learn from a wonderful set of speakers. We even had an opportunity to share with them our craft of letterpress printing and how we can help elevate their brand.

I truly love how these were designed by the team at NAPCP. The design is simple beautiful and simple and I could tell the press loved it too. We did everything letterpress except for the text pages inside the program which we did digitally in house. The Welcome cards were a nice touch for the attendees. One of the founders would write a note personally to each of them on the back and then this card was tied to their welcome bag. What a way to feel welcomed!

Hope you enjoy looking over this as much as we enjoyed printing it! If you are interested in this or any other pieces contact us for samples or questions!

We love fun Save the Date ideas! This one is no exception. It is for a wedding at Old Edwards Inn and our sister photography company 6 of Four Photography was commissioned to document the day. The original idea was a lightweight stock z-fold card. When we proofed the card, the client quickly decided they wanted something different. This is where it got fun. We gave them some ideas which right away evolved into this lovely piece. These three pieces gave information for their out-of-town and out-of-country guests a good ways out so that they have plenty of time to book a flight, a hotel room and even plan their stay with little effort.

Our favorite two elements was the use of the halftone, the picture of one of the location’s builds; and the grouping with baker’s twine. The halftone is a simple way to have an image printed in letterpress. Used here for the background set the scene that all their guest will be familiar with by the end of their wedding weekend. The baker’s twine is a nice alternative to using satin ribbon. After all the pieces are trimmed we then collate and tie each set for a perfect presentation for their guests.

We received an inquiry from a bride who saw Brittnee and Will’s Wedding Suite we designed and printed. She loved how elegant the layout was and wanted to make some tweaks to it. We loved the script type she picked along with the change of the color to Mocha Brown.

Some of the common elements we love on this design are the blind deboss, reply postcard and envelope liners. The blind deboss is a simple way to bring impact to any piece without having to labor over what extra colors are needed on the piece. The reply postcard is a great way to save on having that inner reply card envelope and make it simple for the recipient to reply back. Finally, the envelope liners are always a good touch to create impact once the recipient opens their invitation.
